ChildFirst VA Forensic Interview Training   June, Friday 21.
Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia (CACVA), in partnership with The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will offer ChildFirstTM Virginia Forensic Interview Training at Virginia Highlands Community College, 100 VHCC Dr., Abingdon, VA 24210. ChildFirstâ„¢ Virginia is an intensive five-day course through which students learn the skills necessary to conduct a forensic interview of a suspected child abuse victim. It combines lectures and demonstrations supplemented with homework assignments and a written examination at the end of the course. Moreover, participants must conduct a 30-minute interview of a professional actor playing the role of a sexually-abused child after which the interviewer is critiqued by a professional forensic interviewer and cohort of fellow students. The course is specifically designed for attendance by multidisciplinary teams comprised of CPS investigators, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and forensic interviewers. Applications must be received by CACVA on or before Wednesday, April 17, 2019. You may contact Maggie Cullinan, CACVA Program Coordinator, at 276-644-3371 or via e-mail at maggiecullinan.cacva@gmail.com should you have any questions. Training sessions are limited to only 40 participants. Through a reimbursement process, VDSS offers full scholarships to CPS investigators and/or their supervisors to facilitate attendance of this training. Selected candidates will be contacted by the CPS Program regarding scholarship details, and will be reimbursed following successful completion of the course.
